HAWAIIAN RAINBOW
Honolulu, Hawaii
The 65-foot L.O.A. power catamaran HAWAIIAN RAINBOW was commissioned
by Honex International to augment the water activities program at
the famed Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach. Designed to be
U.S. Coast Guard-licensed for 149 passengers, she was to be used
for a variety of cruises including morning breakfast cruises, daytime/snorkel
sails, and dinner cruises.
HAWAIIAN
RAINBOW is powered by twin diesels and low-speed jet drives, primarily
for the safety of swimmers in the nearby beach area at the hotel.
Other features include a retractable glass viewing enclosure and
spacious upper deck seating area. The hulls were constructed using
a combined method of conventional planking and strip planking (with
wood) while the superstructure is primarily of plastic honeycomb.
